Bognor Regis 381 Branch & Branch Club host the South Downs Folk Festival 2019

Each September finds the town of Bognor Regis, West Sussex, hosting the South Downs Folk Festival and, this September 2019, finds the festival expanding with the town’s Alexandra Theatre, the 381 Bognor Regis Branch and Branch Club and various music venues around town, opening their doors to major folk artists (see attached).  381 Bognor Regis Branch and Branch Club will be hosting many acts during the 4 day event and the Branch’s Choir, Skiffle Band and Ukelele Group will be playing at different venues throughout the town highlighting what the RAF Association are all about.  The Branch and Branch Club, located on the sea-front in this coastal town, will find its doors opening from 10am through until 11pm for three days from  Friday 20th through to Sunday 22nd to enable members, their guests and guests to the town experience the ambience, warm welcome, friendly atmosphere and hospitality the Branch offer – and enable them to try some real ale from the Branch Club’s well-stocked bar too.  So, if you are intending to have a weekend away in the South this September why not consider Bognor Regis and the Folk Festival and make the most of the facilities our Branch and Branch Club have to offer.  More details on our website: https://southdownsfolkfest.co.uk/

Come, Celebrate and Support the town’s Armed Forces Day on Saturday 22nd June 2019.  The Branch and Branch Club will be open all day ….

Wed 5th Reading Group (11.30 am for 11.45 am start):  ‘Sophia, Princess, Suffragette, Revolutionary’ by Anita Arnaud.  Apparently the book begins with a brief history of the Punjab region to give the background to the story as Sophia’s grandfather was the Raj of the Punjab.  Her father was deposed and her family came to live on the Elveden estate in Suffolk.  Here, Sophia grew up with her five siblings, however it is not until the second half of the book that the story singles out Sophia and ‘tells’ her ‘story’.

Wed 3rd  Reading Group (11.30 am for 11.45 am start):  ‘Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine’ by Gail Honeyman.This is a debut novel about a young woman who is apparently isolated as she struggles with appropriate social skills. Everything changes when Eleanor meets Raymond and together they help Sammy, an elderly gentleman who has fallen.  Together they become friends and in doing so release each other from the isolation of their lives.
