Wings Appeal
RAFA 381 WINGS APPEAL
The aim of Wings Appeal is to support members of the Royal Air Force (RAF) past, present and future by raising funds that are then forwarded to the RAFA Headquarters for the welfare fund.
We are currently supporting members of the RAF currently serving abroad, for example: Afghanistan. We also receive 20% of the collections carried out by members of RAFA 381 for our own Welfare Fund.
During 2012/13 the RAFA 381 fundraising team raised £23,500 for Wings Appeal.
Fundraising can be by several methods:
• Shop and street collections
• Summer fetes
• Goodwood Revival
• Events, such as a film show, barn dance, raffles etc
• Road Shows
We work closely with RAFA Headquarters in some instances. They will send their Mobile Exhibition Trailer (MET) to shows, which are quite often covered by their team of fundraisers. We have a number of merchandise items to sell at shows and fetes, which include: badges; teddies; fridge magnets and tea towels.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the Collection Team contact Marion Mewett.

WINGS OFFICER’S AUGUST REPORT
We received a healthy cheque from the Mayor’s Charity at the beginning of June which reflects our extensive input to his activities during his year in office, which has been a good boost to this year’s total. Armed Forces Day was a great success both with our Appeal but also with raising the Branch profile within the Community. A huge thank you to all who helped on the day with the preparation beforehand and the tedious clearing up afterwards.
Thank you
Marion Mewett, Hon Wings Appeal Officer

We would also like to thank everyone who was involved on the day and contributed to the success of the event.
